This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidates to join an enthusiastic and academically talented team, who provide Counselling and Psychotherapy education within a multidisciplinary School and Faculty of undergraduate and postgraduate students. This role focusses on delivering high quality education to students undertaking the MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling. The successful applicants will teach on this programme and assist with the development and evaluation of course materials and modules and provide support and supervision to students as part of their tutoring duties.
Applicants require a Masters’ degree in counselling and or psychotherapy, or a relevant subject and current registration with an appropriate body such as BACP with recent (within the last 12 months) contemporary experience as a psychological therapist. An ability to deliver inspiring and innovative teaching and to work flexibly as part of a wider team is required.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Oversee the placement and supervisor networks for the MA in psychotherapy and counselling and Postgraduate Certificate in Psychotherapy coordinating information sharing with allied educational providers
• Maintain and develop placement, supervision and personal therapy process management systems for students on the MA psychotherapy and counselling and Postgraduate Certificate in Psychotherapy
• Prepare and teach module(s) within the established programme according to the learning outcomes set;
• With support, develop relevant teaching materials, mark assignments and exams and utilise the on-line Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to best effect for marking, student feedback, organisation and management of teaching and learning;
• Assist in planning and organisation of modules;
• Deal with student queries about the content and the delivery of a module as well as providing advice to them where necessary;
• Conduct module evaluations and reviews where necessary and attend module meetings as required;
• Contribute to the duties of the module and programme teaching team where required ;
• Work closely with colleagues to deliver and ensure a coordinated approach to practice skills teaching;
• Provide academic supervision to students where appropriate;
• Where appropriate, act as personal tutor to a designated group of students;
• Link with designated practice placement areas, undertaking educational audit where appropriate.
Professional Registration and Re-Validation
As member of BACP, UKCP, BPS or an equivalent professional body in the field of psychological therapies you will be required to maintain such registration as long as you remain employed with the University of Leeds, confirming to your line manager. You should produce documentation giving evidence of your registration upon request.
