This role will be based on the university campus working Sundays 08:25- 12:40

Do you have experience and knowledge of delivering Swimming lessons and swimming programmes? Do you have excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service? 

 You will deliver swimming lessons as part of the day-to-day operation of The Edge sports facility. You will play an active role in lesson delivery, providing information to customers and maintaining high standards set by Sport & Physical Activity.  

 You will have Swim England level 2 teaching qualification and experience and knowledge of delivering swimming lessons. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills with a commitment to customer service.

You may be required to be on a senior management critical incident rota for sport emergencies during evenings and weekends. In this role, you may be required to resolve and manage issues that can only be effectively dealt with by a senior leader.

We are seeking a Duty Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day management of our fitness and sports complex. You will be accountable for the provision of safe, clean, and high-quality facilities, ensuring that operational procedures and work practices are adhered to, and excellent customer service is delivered at all times.  

You will have a current Royal Life Saving Society lifeguard qualification or equivalent, First Aid at Work, and Pool Plant Operators certificate, or have the ability to pass these requirements within three months. You will have experience of monitoring and maintaining high standards in facility presentation and customer service, with a commitment to providing high quality customer care. You will have the ability to delegate effectively and will have a proactive approach to problem solving.

The University has recently made significant investments into the campus sports facilities including £1.4m on a newly opened, state of the art gym at the Edge. The facility portfolio includes the Edge, the Gryphon Sports Centre and Gryphon Performance Hub. These include a 25m swimming pool with sauna and steam room, 150 exercise classes per week across 3 dedicated studios, an indoor climbing wall, squash courts and the largest indoor sports hall in Leeds. 

This is a customer facing role and you will be responsive to member needs, being regularly available to provide help and advice on the gym floor. You will have a Personal Training and Group Exercise qualification(s), and experience of working in the fitness industry. With your knowledge and experience of designing and delivering personal training, fitness testing and group exercise, you will have the ability to inspire and instruct our members and wider community to achieve their health and fitness goals. 

This role is variable hours: the shift patterns will include a variety of shifts to include the requirement for you to work early mornings 06:00- 14:15, evenings 14:00-22:30, weekends 14:30-21:00, university closed days and bank holidays.
