Health and Safety Manager (Estate Services)

This role will be based on the university campus. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience of contractor management, construction and estates services? Are you interested in being the University’s specialist on contractor management and construction work issues? Are you passionate about driving forward occupational health and safety management systems? Do you have the ability to engage with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and assist in the delivery of a varied and responsive service strategy? 

You will join an ambitious team of H&S professionals that supports the non-academic facing services at the University; you will be the point of contact for contractor management and construction related issues and will support all areas of Estates Services  ( this includes reactive and planned maintenance and grounds and gardening teams) with the support of a Health and Safety Officer.

You will assume responsibility for developing and implementing safety management standards and procedures related to all areas of Estates Services;  including consideration of all types of construction work (including maintenance work  and refurbishments as well as larger project work) and contractor management.

You will take a strategic lead, working in partnership, to develop mature University safety management systems in relevant work areas, such as permit systems. 

You will take the lead on University and service-wide construction projects on behalf of the H&S Service. Providing effective and proportionate advice to Estates Services colleagues and other stakeholders and develop training programmes for both internal and external stakeholders.

A flexible and supportive but dynamic approach will be required.
