Interviews are expected to be held on the 24th February 2026

This post will be based on the university campus, with scope for hybrid working. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Using Puppet, Ansible, Satellite and associated technologies, you will be delivering and supporting the University’s Linux client Devices and core Infrastructure. You will participate in new and existing transformation projects, working closely with IT Security, Networks, Windows Server team, Cloud team and Storage to ensure systems are fit for purpose, and meet strategic and user requirements. You will champion best practices, drive change, refactor technical debt, and contribute to the future of Linux Provision and Management at the University.

You will bring your enthusiasm your curiosity and your dedication to work with you, effecting change, through wider stakeholder collaboration while internally modernising the Client and frontline provision of Linux systems to enable a high-quality IT service, supporting a range of business-critical, research and teaching services in a Higher Education environment. In return we are dedicated to creating a comfortable team environment where staff feel able to raise questions and put forward innovative ideas and suggestions, allowing the option to investigate improvements, then in turn leading these improvements through internal Linux Projects, effecting real and lasting change within the service and seeking out ways to bring together the wider IT community.

In order to keep adding value to our service offering you will work collaboratively with colleges both within the team and across the wider IT Function looking to apply a process of continual service (and personal) improvement across all areas in line with the key aims of the Linux Team:
