Lecturer in Ecology and Global Change (Teaching and Research)

Salary: Grade 8 (£48,149 – £57,422 p.a. depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an academic with a proven ability to teach and research at the interface of ecology and environmental change, human dimensions and society? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience? Are you dedicated to obtaining research funding and developing high-quality publications in global change, ecology and environmental science?

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and driven Lecturer to join our Ecology and Global Change cluster. Current strengths of this vibrant and internationally recognised group is research within the realm of ecology, global and environmental change and biogeochemical cycles. With this position we are looking to grow and strengthen our teaching and research capacity further. Your role will be to provide high-quality, innovative teaching within current modules and develop new teaching in the areas of environmental change and human impacts on environmental change processes. You will also be expected to develop an active international research agenda, and attract research funding to support high quality research activity and outputs. Potential areas could be related to biogeochemical cycles and sustainable use of resources, and/or ecology, conservation and biodiversity. Methods used may include modelling, machine learning, remote sensing, field and experimental work, and large-scale data analysis.

You will have a PhD in Environmental, Biological or Physical Sciences, Geography, or other relevant subject. You will have a passion for University teaching and be an excellent and enthusiastic communicator who interacts successfully with students at all levels. You will have a track record of international research publications and be developing a research agenda. This position offers excellent development and progression opportunities.
