You will join the Astrophysics Group, working specifically with Professor Daniel Thomas, Head of School of Physics and Astronomy.
You will carry out a research programme analysing stellar populations and chemical enrichment processes in galaxies using large galaxy surveys such as SDSS and DESI, as well as cosmological simulations. You will generate mock galaxy data from a variety of state-of-the-art hydro-dynamical simulations employing a forward modelling approach to facilitate the direct comparison between the observed universe and galaxy formation theory.
With a PhD in Astrophysics or a related field (or have submitted your thesis before taking up the role), you will have experience in the analysis of galaxy spectra and worked with cosmological simulations and/or large galaxy surveys. You will have a developing track record of peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
The starting date will be negotiable.
This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
