Do you like working in an enthusiastic event team? Are you a highly organised team-player interested in providing high quality, customer-focused support in the organisation of the annual International Medieval Congress?
The International Medieval Congress regularly attracts over 2,500 medievalists from over 60 countries. With over 2,000 individual papers and 700 academic sessions and a wide range of concerts, workshops, excursions, bookfair and associated events, the Congress is Europe's largest annual gathering in the humanities. IMC 2026 is a hybrid event, streaming over 1000 hours of content, and offering virtual participation for those unable to travel to Leeds.
Working as part of the International Medieval Congress Team, you will provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact for IMC delegate queries as well as providing varied clerical, communication and event coordination support.
Competence in the use of IT systems is essential to this role, particularly Microsoft Office packages, along with a high level of accuracy in data entry and strong attention to detail. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. You will also have experience of working in a customer-focussed role and have good numerical skills (including experience of handling money and/or payments). The ability to work effectively as part of a team and having good organisational and time management skills are also essential.
The 2026 International Medieval Congress will take place at the University of Leeds from 6-9 July 2026. The Conference and Events Administrator is required to be flexible particularly around this period as the work hours are extended during Congress and in the preceding weeks. This will include evening and weekend work at peak times.
These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.
