Lecturer in Well-being and Personal Development (T & S)

Overview of the Role

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.   We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have experience of teaching self-care and well-being in a healthcare context? Would you like to work in an academic environment to develop and deliver education focusing on personal well-being and insight tailored to the needs of the next generation of dental professionals?

As a Lecturer in Well-being and Personal Development (Non-Clinical), your role will be to support the School of Dentistry in developing its educational offering in relation to well-being, resilience, mental health literacy and psychoeducation.  The aim is to prepare students for their university study and their future careers in the dental workforce, being able to put into practice evidence informed self-management strategies to support their ongoing success and well-being.  There will also be an emphasis on the continued professional development of staff colleagues in the school in relation to well-being and self-management, offering a preventive, rather than reactive approach to development.

You will bring and embrace innovative and evidence-informed approaches to teaching, learning and assessment that will deliver inclusive and active experiences to all our students.  There will be an emphasis on providing small group teaching, using facilitation and coaching techniques to encourage active engagement in discussions. You will be enthusiastic and motivated with disciplinary expertise in well-being education and personal development. and have knowledge, experience and creativity that can be applied to innovative modes of course delivery, assessment, curriculum design, and scholarship of teaching and learning.  With the ability to collaborate effectively, you will play key roles as an academic member of the School, to support development of our taught programmes, through innovation in well-being education and personal development within the dentistry context.
