Do you want the opportunity to develop your academic career in a supportive and inspirational environment?
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who has the ambition to be part of the next generation of primary dental care academic clinicians. This Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) post is a 5-year fixed-term research training post. The funding is part time (0.25 WTE) and for the purposes of research training. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will continue their clinical practice in NHS primary care. You will be employed by the University of Leeds.
As an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow, you will spend your time undertaking innovative and scholarly research working with colleagues within the School of Dentistry. Opportunities include lab-based, translation and clinical research. These should be discussed with the senior academic staff in the school and will be explored at interview.
ACF trainees undergo training in the generic skills required for a clinical academic: scientific methods, statistics, research governance, critical appraisal of research publication, grant writing etc. This training is via a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Research provided by the University of Leeds and for which funding is provided by NIHR (https://courses.leeds.ac.uk/8455/health-research-pgcert). Academic Clinical Fellows will join the well-established Leeds Integrated Clinical Academic Training programme within the Faculty of Medicine and Health (https://medicinehealth.leeds.ac.uk/medicine-clinical-academic-training/doc/training-programme-overview).
The successful applicant must be in post by 31 March 2026.
