Clinical Teaching Fellow in Restorative Dentistry

This is a unique opportunity for your development as a clinical teacher. With a dental qualification, full GDC registration and relevant foundation/general professional training or equivalent you must be capable of contributing across the broad range of restorative clinical disciplines within undergraduate dental education. 

You will contribute to maintaining the high quality of clinical education of undergraduate students principally at the Dental Institute in Leeds within the Restorative Department or Acute Dental Care, or at one our Outreach centres as required. Responsibilities will include clinical supervision of students, and admin duties related to the provision of patient care and student education. This post will suit enthusiastic clinicians with an interest in dental education, who wish to explore the potential for an academic career in clinical dentistry.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Restorative Dentistry your main duties will include: 

  • Contributing across the broad range of Restorative Dentistry clinical disciplines within undergraduate dental education and also being involved in the integrated dental teamwork teaching; 
  • Clinical Restorative Dentistry teaching within the clinical setting of the School of Dentistry/Leeds Dental Institute, pre-clinical (clinical skills) classrooms and the designated Outreach Centres in academic small groups; 
  • Effective teaching, supervision and continuous assessment of students providing comprehensive dental care for adult patients in academic small groups, with direct intervention where required; 
  • Opportunities to develop your own subject and teaching material in accordance with curriculum and clinical requirements;
  • Opportunities to assist with examinations and assignments including question setting, standard setting, marking (written and oral) and moderating if appropriate;
  • Assisting with co-ordination, further development and regular review of taught and shared modules as appropriate;
  • Undertake relevant training and development to maintain up to date knowledge and own continuing personal and professional development.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.

We would expect the successful candidate to take annual leave predominantly outside of University term-time.
