Research Fellow in Applied Social Care Research

Are you an ambitious academic with a passion for workforce and applied social care research? Do you want to work with world-leading workforce researchers in the applied health and care research field? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 80 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

We are looking for a Research Fellow (Applied Social Care Research) to lead the day-to-day delivery of a research project exploring how social care organisations attract, recruit and retain their younger (aged under 30 years) workforce. This project is to be delivered by the end of February 2027. It is part of our planned work for a NIHR Social Care Workforce Research Partnership being co-led by the University of Leeds and King’s College London. You will work closely with colleagues in our partnership to deliver this project, contributing to our ambitious social care research portfolio. The School of Healthcare is also lead partner in the NIHR School for Social Care Research (Phase IV) at Leeds, NICHE-Leeds (a partnership between science and care in the city) and the Accelerated healing and rehabilitation work of the NIHR Healthtech Research Centre in Leeds.

Focussing on research, you will be a key member of the School of Healthcare. Working closely with colleagues in our NIHR Social Care Workforce Research Partnership and wider networks, and overseen by Professor Karen Spilsbury, you will ensure delivery of this project.
