Research Fellow

Overview of the Role

Research Fellow in Behavioural Science & Cancer

School of Medicine, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in behavioural science, psychology, or psycho-oncology research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

Leeds Institute of Health Sciences are looking to recruit a Research Fellow to contribute to the following two studies led by Dr Rebecca Beeken and project managed by Dr Fiona Kennedy in the areas of behavioural science and cancer.

•    FORALL is a development grant exploring under-served communities’ experiences of weight management after a diagnosis of breast cancer.

•    APPROACH is a randomised controlled trial exploring a mobile phone app-based behavioural support intervention to increase physical activity in patients with a diagnosis of breast, prostate or colorectal cancer.

The Research Fellow will split their time across the two projects.  The candidate will lead a systematic scoping review and qualitative data collection/analysis for the FORALL grant. They will also contribute to the day-to-day running of the APPROACH study, including the recruitment of participants and support of study data collection from patients and medical records.

You will have experience in qualitative methods and literature reviews together with experience of working with people who have had a diagnosis of cancer. You will need to be able to work independently in community settings and with community stakeholders. Some flexible working to suit participants may be required. As you will work closely and interactively within two collaborative projects you will also need excellent communication and organisation skills.
