Research Fellow

This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

There are two roles available for this position

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in social science and higher education research? Are you interested in working in an interdisciplinary team to understand the impact of curricular, pedagogical and assessment interventions on student success and outcomes?

We are looking to appoint three full-time Grade 7 Research Fellows in Higher Education to work collaboratively on an internally-funded research project, across the University of Leeds. The three posts are available to start immediately, each for two years.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving team of researchers in one of the UK’s leading universities. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team which has a wide range of technical, research and evaluation experience drawing on a broad range of quantitative, qualitative and statistical methods. We are committed to supporting and developing our team members, through attendance at conferences and access to training in research methods, and will support you to further develop your own areas of expertise and interests.

You will work on a project funded by the University of Leeds that will utilise a broad range of student education data to understand the relationship between curricular, pedagogical and assessment interventions, on student success and outcomes. This project is of significant interest to the University as it begins to explore and evaluate the impact of a large curriculum change project (Curriculum Redefined) that spans all undergraduate programmes.

Stakeholders include students, module and programme leads, and student education leaders across the institution. the project will be delivered in partnership with colleagues from both the professional service and academic communities. The work will involve linking numerous large student education datasets to local student education interventions to understand the impact these interventions may have on both students and staff.

The three research fellows will work collaboratively and each of their areas of expertise will be complementary. Broadly the posts include a qualitative research methods expert, a qualitative research methods expert in big data, and a quantitative research methods expert.

Please note that this post may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route but first-time applicants might need to qualify for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
