Research Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to form part of a multidisciplinary team of clinical rheumatologists and fundamental scientists. Your role in this study would be to collect and process patient samples using spectral flow cytometry, and be responsible for storage and tracking of these samples. You are also expected to contribute to the experimental analyses of these samples.
Location: LICAMM (with scope for hybrid working)
We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Fixed term: 4 months (from July 2026) to complete specific time limited work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a research technician your main duties will include:
- Managing and prioritising your own day to day workload, to collect, process and store samples, plan and conduct experiments whilst working with minimal supervision.
- Maintaining a proactive approach to the research project, inputting ideas and providing flexible technical support to staff and students based on their needs.
- Liaising effectively and proactively maintaining contact with colleagues across the team and ensuring the information is cascaded appropriately.
- Contributing to the safe and well organised functioning of the laboratory.
- Maintaining good records and laboratory notebooks of work carried out, including providing clear understandable data to other members of the research group where necessary.
- Preparing and updating standard operating procedures and providing technical support updates to other members of the team.
- Providing feedback to the principal investigator on service usage, stock utilisation, and discussing progress and future plans.
- Willingness to be trained in new techniques and to undertake additional training as required.
