Administrative Assistant (part-time)

Can you provide technical support to research studies?  Do you have excellent organisational and time-management skills?  Would you like to contribute to a national initiative to help patients access clinical studies? We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to work as part of an exciting new initiative in brain cancer that will match patients from across the UK to relevant clinical studies.  

The Co-ordinator will work as part of a new national initiative ‘ACT-BT’, i.e. Access to Clinical Studies for Brain Tumours. This newly funded project will match patients from around the UK with relevant clinical studies in adult brain tumours. Patients will be referred in to regular expert panel meetings where each case will be discussed. The co-ordinator will provide a comprehensive administrative service to support ACT-BT panel meetings and provide effective management of accurate and timely data to enable decision-making at panel meetings.  

You will coordinate, proactively manage and track patients from referral to decision against the objectives set out in the ACT-BT business case.  You will escalate problems to the chief investigators of ACT-BT in a timely manner so that remedial action can be taken where necessary to ensure indicative targets are met.  

You will coordinate all aspects of the patient referral and decision-making pathway and be responsible for prioritising cases, setting up, managing and ensuring effective running of panel meetings and reviewing/auditing work practices when required. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring all referred patients are monitored and tracked, for maintaining the relevant database (in Leeds Teaching Hospitals electronic patient record system (PPM)) and ensuring information is communicated between ACT-BT and the appropriate clinical and administrative staff within the referring teams.
