Business Lead: Statutory Student Returns

Interviews expected to be held week commencing 29 July

Salary: Grade 8 (£45,585 - £54,395 p.a. depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you passionate about getting the right solution to manage student returns to HESA and the OfS? Do you have the skills to work across functional areas to deliver results? Do you want to shape our long term future through transformation work?

The University of Leeds is looking for a business lead to own our technical solution used to produce the HESA Data Futures Student return and deliver further improvements. In this new role, you will join us at the start of our improvement journey using new tools and solutions to optimise the production of statutory returns and add value to the University’s data. The successful applicant will be able work collaboratively to shape the journey in a way that best supports ongoing transformation activity whilst maintaining the business as usual activity vital to our ongoing regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a talented individual who can set out and justify the transformation activity needed to ensure that our statutory returns are well managed on a sustainable basis.

Based in the Policy and Regulation Service, and reporting to the Head of Policy and Regulation, you will lead on the finalisation and delivery of our transformation plan whilst enabling the team to continue producing statutory returns. Policy and Regulation is responsible not only for the HESA Student return but a suite of associated data returns including HESES, the Aggregate Offshore Record and the Medical and Dental Survey. Each return must be consistent with the others and data used for internal planning purposes.

You will work with the Statutory Returns Manager, other members of Policy and Regulation, colleagues across IT, Student Education Services, and Faculties and Schools to support improvements in data quality and our technical solution. You will help embed an approach to ongoing transformation within business as usual, enabling the University to respond to the ongoing changes in data requirements from both the Office for Students and HESA.

What we offer in return

  • 26 days holiday plus 16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – that’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme plus life assurance.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
  • Personal Development: Access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team.
  • Access to on-site childcare, shopping discounts and travel schemes are also available.

And much more!
