Senior Projects and Activities Officer

This role is open to current University of Leeds staff only

Interviews will be held on 18th August 2025

This role will be based on the University campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have experience of working interculturally, as well as managing events, activities or projects? Can you collaborate effectively with partners; lead and motivate colleagues; manage complex operations and events; facilitate activities and training; and inspire and support students to get the most out of being at an international university?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 100 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

Our Student Education and Experience directorates are a family of student-related services focused on delivering an exceptional student experience. Teamwork is key to our success, and we are committed to supporting every student to make the most of their time at Leeds and go on to succeed in their chosen career and make a positive difference in the world.

The International Student Office works collaboratively with internal and external partners to inspire and support all students to feel part of a global community and to get the most out of their time at our diverse, international university. The team delivers welcome services and activities for international students; and opportunities for all students to have intercultural experiences on campus and in the local community.

We are looking for an organised, adaptable and student-focussed individual to lead and support the delivery of key projects, services and activities, and to contribute to developing future plans. You will manage events, operations and activities, deliver training and engagement projects and play a key role in service planning and decision making. You will need to have a passion for community building and good influencing skills, with the ability to work flexibly, inclusively and collaboratively with a wide range of staff, students from diverse backgrounds and external partners.

This role will require some out of hours work during the year, along with working early shifts and up to 10 consecutive days during the main 3-week arrival period in September, with shorter periods of working these hours during the arrival periods in January and June/July.

Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa.

What we offer in return:

  • 26 days holiday plus 16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – that’s 42 days a year!
