Research Fellow in Decarbonising Transport
Would you like to be part of an exciting networking project to deliver a rapid step-change in the decarbonisation of transport? Do you have an established background in the environmental impacts of transport at different spatial scales? Are you passionate about making a difference to climate change?
This role is part of an exciting new three year EPSRC funded research network, DecarboN8, working across disciplines across the N8 research partnership. The network will focus on how to integrate scientific advances across the boundaries that matter to the deployment and uptake of innovations to achieve more rapid, effective and socially acceptable carbon reduction pathways. You will work with Transport for the North and other government bodies across the North to develop an integrated repository of carbon data sources from across the transport and energy sector. You will use the data to inform analyses of differences across different spatial scales and to understand and map the potential significance of different carbon reduction strategies. As well as being academically excellent and publishable, your work will inform policy briefings, research funding calls and innovation projects with DecarboN8 collaborators.
As a key part of an interdisciplinary network of research you will need to think creatively about how to fuse data sets from energy and transport to explore variations in carbon use through a range of different lenses. These might include individual, household, community, business or network scales. You will have the opportunity to shape the questions asked of the data but will also need to be responsive to the needs of the wide range of users who may work with the data.
