Research Fellow in Molecular, Cellular and Cardiac Physiology

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?Do you have a background in laboratory-based cardiovascular research?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Fellow post to investigate the role of the Piezo1 mechanosensitive ion channel in regulating structural remodelling of the heart at the level of the cardiac fibroblast. This new post is funded by the British Heart Foundation for a fixed term of 3 years and follows up on our recently published work studying Piezo1 in cardiac fibroblasts (Blythe NM et al, J. Biol. Chem. 2019;294:17395).

The research will employ a range of methods including general cell and molecular biology techniques and murine models of cardiac remodelling. The work will be based in the School of Medicine in the laboratory of Dr Neil Turner (https://medicinehealth.leeds.ac.uk/medicine/staff/833/dr-neil-a-turner) on the main campus of the University of Leeds.

Applicants for this position should have a BSc degree and a PhD (or passed PhD with minor corrections at the point of application) in a relevant biological subject, with experience of cardiovascular research.
