LITE Fellowship: Learning Analytics

Are you interested in exploring the potential of learning analytics to impact on student learning and academic practice?  Would you like the opportunity to work with LITE and the Digital Education Service to explore this important area for the University of Leeds?

The University is in the process of developing an institutional learning analytics strategy and a Code of Practice on Learning Analytics. This strategy and code of practice will govern the University’s deployment of learning analytics systems to support student education. Given the importance of ethical, responsible and transparent practices when handling learning data, the University has commissioned a LITE Fellowship to work alongside the implementation of this strategy.

The LITE Fellow will investigate the ethical, practical and institutional implications of implementing learning analytics solutions and systems on students, staff and the University of Leeds. The role holder will work independent of, but alongside the Learning Analytics Strategy Group, forming a cross-institutional network of staff and students and pursuing scholarly projects in the area of learning analytics, using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research approaches, to critically evaluate the impact of this initiative. The role will also involve developing networks with others working in similar roles in other institutions, to explore examples of best practice. It is anticipated that the Fellowship will result in a range of internal and external outputs (e.g. case studies, research articles, reports) to support the successful implementation of learning analytics at the University.

As well as fulfilling the project, you will be expected to contribute to LITE’s scholarly community, contribute content towards the digital and external-facing profiles and act as an ambassador at internal and external events. You will evaluate and disseminate your project outputs internally and externally to develop the practice, pedagogy and reputation of student education at the University.
